Charleston Wedding Photographer | Editorial & Film Wedding Photography

There’s something about Charleston that feels made for weddings.
The pastel architecture, sprawling oak trees, historic estates, cobblestone streets, and warm Southern light create a setting that already feels like a scene from a film. As a Charleston wedding photographer, my goal is to photograph your day in a way that embraces all of that beauty while still keeping the focus exactly where it belongs: on the two of you.
I approach weddings with a blend of documentary storytelling and editorial imagery, creating photographs that feel romantic, cinematic, and completely personal to the people in them.
Wedding Photography That Feels Like You
Your wedding photographs shouldn’t feel like a collection of poses you’ve seen a hundred times before.
They should feel like your day.
The way your veil moved in the Charleston breeze. Your best friend fixing your dress moments before you walked down the aisle. The expression on your partner’s face when they saw you for the first time. Champagne spilling onto the dance floor. Your parents holding hands during the ceremony. The quiet five minutes you stole together after sunset.
Those are the photographs that become more valuable with time.
My approach allows space for those moments to happen naturally. Rather than constantly directing your wedding day, I’m watching for movement, emotion, beautiful light, unexpected interactions, and all of the little details happening around you.
When direction is needed, I’ll step in. When the moment is already perfect, I’ll simply document it.
The result is a wedding gallery that feels somewhere between a collection of memories and stills from a movie.

Editorial Meets Documentary Wedding Photography
I’ve always been drawn to imagery that feels intentional without feeling overly polished.
Throughout a wedding day, that means moving between two approaches.
Some photographs are created with an editorial eye — thoughtfully composed portraits, beautiful fashion details, dramatic architecture, and imagery that could live within the pages of a magazine.
Others are completely unscripted.
A glance across the dinner table. Wind catching your veil. Guests laughing during cocktail hour. Someone wiping away a tear during the ceremony. A blurry flash photograph in the middle of the dance floor.
Together, those images tell a much richer story than either approach could on its own.
Film & Digital Wedding Photography in Charleston
I photograph weddings using both film and digital photography, allowing each medium to contribute something different to the final gallery.
Film has a softness, texture, and imperfect beauty that feels especially at home in Charleston. Digital allows me to capture fleeting moments quickly and work beautifully through changing lighting conditions throughout a wedding day.
Rather than trying to make every photograph look identical, I love the subtle variation that comes from combining the two.
The finished gallery feels layered, nostalgic, and alive — photographs that feel beautiful now but could just as easily have been pulled from an old family album decades from today.

Getting Married in Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston offers an incredible range of settings for a wedding.
You can exchange vows beneath centuries-old oak trees, host an elegant celebration inside a historic property, plan a garden reception surrounded by Spanish moss, or spend the weekend celebrating downtown among Charleston’s colorful streets and historic architecture.
And photographically, every setting offers something different.
Historic Charleston creates a timeless, European-inspired backdrop for portraits. The Lowcountry gives us marshes, oak trees, gardens, and soft coastal landscapes. Charleston’s historic estates provide an entirely different atmosphere, with grand architecture and grounds that transform throughout the day as the light changes.
Wherever you choose to celebrate, I want the location to become part of the visual story without overpowering the people at the center of it.
Your Wedding Day Shouldn’t Feel Like a Photoshoot
One of the biggest things I want my couples to know is that you don’t have to spend your wedding day performing for the camera.
You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.
You don’t need to practice poses.
And you definitely don’t need to sacrifice actually experiencing your wedding in order to have beautiful photographs of it.
I’ll help build a photography timeline that leaves room for the photographs we want while protecting the experience of the day itself. During portraits, I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’m much more interested in creating movement and interaction than putting you into rigid poses.
Then, for the majority of the wedding, you get to celebrate.
I’ll document what happens.

For Couples Who Care About the Feeling
My work is for couples who care about beautiful imagery but care just as much about how their wedding actually feels.
Couples who appreciate fashion and thoughtful details but aren’t afraid of a little wind in their hair.
Who want the beautifully composed portrait and the blurry photograph from the dance floor.
Who love photographs that feel elegant without feeling overly perfect.
And who ultimately want their wedding gallery to remind them not only what everything looked like, but what it felt like to be there.
Years from now, I want you to look through your photographs and remember the atmosphere of the room, the people surrounding you, the anticipation before the ceremony, the chaos of the dance floor, and the tiny moments you didn’t even realize I was photographing.

Whether you’re celebrating at a historic Charleston estate, beneath the oak trees of the Lowcountry, in the gardens of a plantation venue, or in the heart of downtown Charleston, your wedding deserves to be documented as something entirely its own.
Not as a checklist of photographs.

A little imperfect. A little cinematic. Completely yours.
