Carla and Jacob met on the very first day of their surgical intern year – Jake in orthopedics, Carla in urology. They were “friends” for about a month (haha!!) before they started dating, and five years later Jake planned a weekend on Skaneateles Lake and proposed. Carla called it the best day ever, and I believe her!!
Right after that, they headed off to separate fellowships, Carla in Minnesota and Jake in LA, and spent pretty much their entire 14-month engagement long distance. So this wedding was a BIG celebration. Of their love, of everything they’ve each worked so hard for, and of finally getting to be in the same place again.
Back to Skaneateles
Anyela’s Vineyards sits right outside Skaneateles, just minutes from the lake where Jake proposed, which made it the perfect full-circle spot for these two. Rolling rows of vines, Finger Lakes views, and a couple who couldn’t stop smiling at each other all day long… it doesn’t get much better than that!!
Their People
Carla is a triplet, and her siblings are her best friends, so having them right by her side all day was SO special. Jake’s two adorable nephews were part of the wedding too, and they stole the show more than once.
The Ceremony
Carla and Jacob said their vows with the vines stretching out behind them, after more than a year of countdowns and cross-country flights. The people who know them best describe them as kind, patient, and honest, and you could feel all of that as they promised forever to each other.
Sunset in the Vines
The one thing Carla asked for? Sunset photos with just Jake. So as the sun started to drop, we snuck away into the rows, and these two (who swore they get a little shy in front of the camera, lol) totally let loose. Walking through the vines, stealing kisses, laughing at nothing… those in-between moments are my absolute favorite.
Carla said she wants to remember this as the happiest they’ve ever been, and I hope that’s exactly what these photos give them. Carla and Jacob, thank you SO much for having me!! I’m so honored I got to be there for it.
