Just got engaged and trying to pick a date? EEEKK, congrats!! Charleston is gorgeous year-round, but each season has its own vibe. Here’s the best time to get married in Charleston, from a photographer’s point of view.

Spring: Mid-April to May

This is peak wedding season for a reason. Highs are in the mid-70s to low 80s, flowers are blooming, and the light is soft and pretty. Book your venue and vendors early, because spring Saturdays go FAST.

Summer: June to August

Summer is hot and humid, with July highs averaging near 90 and frequent afternoon storms. The upside? Longer days, later sunsets, and more availability. Plan an evening ceremony and a solid rain plan.

Fall: Late September to October

My personal favorite!! October brings highs in the mid-70s, less humidity, and warm golden light. It’s one of the most comfortable months for a Charleston wedding. Keep in mind that hurricane season runs through November, so have a backup plan.

Winter: November to March

Cooler (highs around 60 in midwinter), quieter, and often more affordable, with off-season pricing at many venues. Sunsets are early, so plan portraits for the afternoon. Moody winter light is SO underrated.

Month by Month at a Glance

  • Best weather: mid-April to May, late September to October
  • Most budget-friendly: January, February, July, and August at many venues
  • Longest days: June and July
  • Most crowded: spring and fall weekends

My Take

If you want the safest bet for weather, go for April, May, or October. If you want flexibility, savings, and a more intimate feel, don’t sleep on winter!
